Summary

There are dozens of websites now based around this miracle cure that now claims to be able to cure all sorts of cancers including lung cancer, kidney cancer, throat cancer, skin cancer, and thyroid cancer along with being able to reduce or decrease the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

Over the last half century there have many fad or functional food cures that seem to captivate the headlines in news stand tabloids. They have claimed cures to or enhancements of just about any imaginable illness, disease, or dysfunction of the human body. Many have even claimed to give longevity to life along with their so called cures or enhancements. We’ve all seen the headlines, “Himalayan sheep herder discovers cure to cancer growing on his farm.” or “Side effect of latest cancer cure adds 100 years to your life.”

One of the latest to crop up has been the Goji Juice made from an extract of the goji berries found in the northwest regions of China. The goji berry used for centuries by the Chinese for treatment of or curing ailments such as poor vision, skin irritation, and fertility problems claims to have some might powerful positive side effects these days.

Lest we not forget= that it can prolong life as well as make our sexual activity extend way beyond our passing of the 100 years of age mark in life.

So what is Goji Juice and is there any evidence to support these claims?

Goji Juice as stated earlier is a derivative of the goji berry that comes from the Lycium species of plants particularly the barbarum variety commonly referred to as the English wolfberry, matrimony vine, or Chinese Boxthorn plant. In ancient Chinese history it was noted that not only the berry was used for treatments and cures but also the leaves of the plant as well. The leaves were either boiled into a tea and drank or simply rubbed across infected areas of the human body.

In recent years though only the berry is used, although there area few websites that do sell ground version of the leaves for making the “Goji Tea”. While the plant can grow just about anywhere in the eastern parts of the world’s mountainous areas the best goji berries come from China, Tibet, and Inner Mongolia. The berries themselves are small round, orange to red in color, and contain many seeds. They are said to be sweet to the taste if eaten.

Goji Juice may have many boasts of being a cure all or enhancer of many things but the evidence of its successes is rare and hard to find at best. Most of the claims of evidence turn out to folklore stories passed down from others and really have no substantiating evidence behind them at all.

The US Government’s medical databases only show slightly over 100 reports on the use and effectiveness of the use of Lycium and its derivatives in any clinical laboratory studies and of those less than half were of the Lycium Barbarum species being tested. Of these 50 or so tests only one single report even makes any claim of having any positive effect on the treatment of cancer. This one report was filed by a medical university in Shanghai and is all in Chinese with no English translation or notes at all contained within.

The report did however claim that with the use of Lycium Barbarum there was a 40% increase in the longevity of remission of cancer in the test subjects. There were no test results in the report to support the recent claims of prolonging life or sexual enhancements.

Currently Goji Juice runs around $45 per liter on the streets and through mail order. Whether it is worth the price is up to who you ask. Some people claim that Goji Juice has saved their lives and their marriages, while others use it as a preventative measure and to prolong life.

The Healing Properties Of Gemstones

Filed Under (Alternative Cures, Holistic Cures) by RedHat39 on 12-10-2007

The Healing Power of Gemstones

Superstitions about gemstones have existed since the earliest times and there are still a number of people who believe in their supposed powers. Many people say that gemstones possess the power to heal the body of ailments and to protect it from impending harm. Even up to now, some cultures believe that red rubies can remove evil thoughts and stress and opals can bring a myriad of internal sicknesses and diseases.

It is said that in the presence of poison, an opal will turn pale and a ruby will become cloudy. Emeralds also seem to “burn” when near a harmful substance. In Europe, diamonds and sapphires were believed to dispel poison and madness, as well as witchcraft. It is said that if one placed a poisonous reptile in the same glass with a sapphire, the reptile would die from the rays of the gem.

The Healing Power of Gemstones

Sometimes, beliefs about the same stones are different. For example, Europeans in the Middle Ages believed that diamonds were a symbol of the sun and could cure ailments brought about by “impure” actions. In Persia, on the other hand, people in the same period of time believed that diamonds were a source of sin and sorrow and were not worn within the vicinity of the sick.

Amethysts were considered especially effective against toothaches and headaches. Another special quality attributed to this gem by the Greeks is that wearing it would keep a drinker sober. When worn near the body, diamonds are believed to cure insanity, nightmares and leprosy. When placed on a wound, a red ruby is said to have the power to stop the flow of blood. Agate reduces fever, while carnelian stones tighten loose teeth. Some people believe that wearing jewelry with carnelians could cure tumors and strengthen their voice. Sapphires and opals are said to strengthen failing eyesight. A turquoise is said to be a primary charm against injuries brought about by falling, such as broken bones and torn ligaments. The olive-green peridot is worn as a talisman to give the wearer clarity of thought and protect him from heart diseases.

Gemstones were also worn as protection against evil and the diseases the dark spirits bring. Sapphire was originally believed to give the wearer amazing protection from the spirits of darkness and illnesses. Because of this, it is said that sapphires could help relieve ailments brought about by mental stress. Sapphires were also thought to preserve their wearer from the jealousy of his enemies. The Chinese put jade bracelets or anklets on their children to protect them from bodily harm. The Hindus used pearls as an especially strong charm to protect themselves against all kinds of evil. They also believed that wearing a red garnet makes its wearer incapable of being physically injured or wounded.

Gemstones were even thought to cure not only sickness, but depression and loneliness. Gems were thought to have the power to influence love and marriage. Turquoise used to be popular because it was thought to prevent disagreement between husband and wife, while aquamarine promote that the love of married couples. In ancient Rome, women frequently wore amethysts to be assured of their husbands love and to conquer their depression with their husbands away at war. Emeralds used to be the symbol of a happy and successful love and so were frequently used as the stone in engagement rings.
